Our Halloween Monster Door-2021 Edition

If you're a longtime reader, you know I've been doing a Monster door for Halloween for years now. As usual, we had to include our painted pumpkins and even added a few Squid Game inspired ones. Below are the items I use to create the Monster door and I've also linked on my Amazon store.

Create Your Own Monster Door

I seal all my pumpkins(even the unpainted ones) as it helps prevent disintegration and protect them from the elements.  My pumpkins are usually still in tact even in December! This Mod Podge sealant is great!

Celebrating Halloween During a Pandemic

We might not be trick or treating this year for Halloween due to the Pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t decorate, right? Especially when you can find everything you need at The Home Depot  to decorate for Halloween. I am not one to embrace the spooky side of Halloween, but I went out of my comfort zone for this Halloween Style Challenge in partnership with The Home Depot.  I actually enjoyed getting our yard all spookified with items from the Home Depot. Our Halloween 2018 Highlight

Good morning beautiful people! It was hard to choose which pics to share because I have so many faves, but here are some pics captured by the awesome Lea Hartman of our Halloween shenanigans this year. Yes, we are big super hero/Marvel fans...

I am currently sipping my second cup of coffee trying to recover from all of the Halloween excitement. The kiddos had a blast and Cheyenne was thrilled to accompany her brothers trick or treating. xx

Our Halloween Front Door 2016

This year, I gave our monster door green hair and glitter teeth though the glitter isn't really showing up in the pics.

I added an extra dose of "monster-ness" this year with these monster pumpkins the boys and I painted. I sealed them with a mod podge glossy sealant which helps to preserve our handiwork. Have a great day everyone! xx

Halloween Glimpses at Our Home.

 I usually keep the decor for Halloween on the simple side, and this year, I chose to sprinkle black accessories and accents throughout. Orange is my favorite colour and takes center stage year round in our home, but during Halloween, it shows off even more. Also, I have a thing for skulls, so you'll also see a couple of those too...

I bought some hanging bats/garland , cut them off the string and taped them to the wall with painter's tape. I love how it turned out!

Colorful Halloween and Fall Touches at Our Home.

We are not the Spooky type when it comes to decorating for Halloween. I go for not so spooky and fun. Last year, I was inspired by Monster doors I saw on Pinterest and turned our door into a monster. The boys and the children in the neighborhood loved it, so, guess what, I did it again this year! The pink paper is left over from last year and the googly eyes, and teeth(made from poster board) are also all from last year.

Colorful, painted pumpkins are a must for my fall decor. So fun!

This oversized barrel mums is a show stopper. I didn't even bother adding more mums in the front because this one was more than enough.

These gold speckled spiders are more beautiful than they are spooky.

How cute are these little pumpkins on our mantel?

Our Not too Spooky Halloween Party.

There were no witches and skeletons at this party! Truth be known, I am from a very superstitious culture, and so in an effort not to anger my forefathers, I only snuck in a few witches' hats in the decor. We had so a wickedly sweet time nonetheless. Are you ready for diy overload. I might have gone a bit overboard...

Getting Creative with Your Pumpkins

I am not much of a carver, so I tend to get creative with my pumpkins in other ways:

Put some spray paint on it. Spray paint was applied to a number of pumpkins. For this party, some of the pumpkins were painted in gold and black.

Polka dot it. Polka dot decals were applied to one of the bigger pumpkins to create wow and also to pick up on the polka dot motif of the banner.

Pom pom it. I love using pom poms! They add such fun and colorful whimsy to everything. Tiny pom poms were adhered to one of the pumpkins using a glue gun. Pumpkin was spray painted a brighter white first so the colorful pom poms would pop.

Put some chalkboard paint on it. I spray painted a few pumpkins with chalkboard paint which provided a lovely surface to draw those spooky characters.

Dip dye it. I had neon food coloring left over from Easter, so I used the pink color to create a dip dye effect on a couple of the white pumpkins. Pumpkins were spray painted a brighter white first, left to dry then dipped in neon pink food coloring. The stems were spray painted gold to tie in with the other golden pumpkins.

Dress it Up. A pair of craft glasses and a carrot attached as a nose is a fun way to get your pumpkin all dressed up for the party!

The hubby was nice enough to draw a fun Halloween inspired mural on our chalkboard wall; the perfect back drop for the party.

 The Candy Bar

Little fingers were just itching to get into those jars of delectable goodness! Oreos, cheese balls, jelly creme pumpkins, candy corn were some of the treats that filled the apothecary jars. Chalkboard tags were used to label the jars.

Bewitching Plates

I love using plates on walls as a focal point. I already had the black plates and used candy corn to spell the words Spooky Treats. Pieces of candy corn were adhered to a plate using a glue gun to form each letter. This is such an inexpensive way to add a focal point above your candy bar/table.

 A Monster Surprise

Little googly eyed monster toys were placed in a brain like container and served as party favors. They also lit up when shook; a fun feature the children would be sure to love.

Our pirate fairy was so beautiful and the most charming pirate I've ever met!
