A Mod Furnished Villa in Brazil.

Photo Feb 20, 9 37 15 AM
I feel like it’s been years since my last blog post. Out of town visitors, mini vacations, mommy life, and most recently a computer that didn’t want to cooperate has made blogging almost impossible. Anyway, I managed to fix my computer using Systems Restore(i think the process deserves its own blog post).

Vintage and mid century furniture is a favorite of mine, so of course I love this villa! Plus look at all the color!

Sneak Peeks and Bookshelves Styling Inspiration.

2013-05-06 10.45.02
I decided to keep the wall colour behind the built in bookcase as is because of two main reasons .#1) it actually has its own pop of accent on those sliding doors and #2)is below.

This beauty brought in a great dose of colour and I really didn’t want any quarrels between it and the accent wall regarding who the center of attention is in the spaceSmile.

I am the happiest girl on earth right now because of this orange sectional. It’s no secret that orange is my favourite colour, so I believe this beauty was just waiting on us to come and get her. We were actually close to purchasing the Neo sectional from DWR, and had just received fabric samples in the mail before my trip to High Point Market. I am so thrilled that hadn’t  purchased the Neo yet because the Stacey(my name for this beauty) is waaaay better(sorry DWR). The fabric is so luxurious,  and  most importantly it is child friendly aka spot resistant. It goes without saying that it is super comfortable and perfect for lounging. The sleek design still gives it a formal flair which is one of the criteria I also wanted in the seating for this space.

These scrumptious Italian pieces were purchased from The Tomasella peeps at High Point Market.

Now some inspiration for the fun stuff:

Our High Point Market Furniture Purchase(s) and Painting Dilemna...

2013-05-01 09.38.26
I commented on twitter earlier this week that I went to High Point Market as a design blogger and left being a buyer. Our living room has been left undecorated for awhile. We were not in a hurry partly because of parenting and also because we wanted to take our time and get EXACYTLY what we wanted.  We recently put operation project living room in motion. A built in and seating(Zion inherited our prior couch and has it in his playroom)were the first things on our list. The hubs accompanied me on the trip to High Point Market and before we left, we talked about how wonderful it would be if we found/saw pieces we loved. Well, it happened! We fell in love with one of the Italian showrooms(Tomasella.it) and found the perfect seating and custom built-in.  You can’t see any of the hardware and it’s very James Bond and Mad Men like with its engineering and design.

built-ins1
So this is the view of the wall where that oh so gorgeous built in will be mounted.  I have been going back and forth whether I should paint the wall an accent color or leave it alone. We have Benjamin Moore November Skies on the walls in the living room. What to do?  Talk to me people, accent wall or not? Delivery is Saturday, I don’t have much time.  Blessings and have a wonderful Wednesday! XX

p.s. I’ll show you the seating when it’s in the spaceSmile

Wiggle Room.

2013-04-08 08.33.57
It is not uncommon for us to “bust a move” in our living spaces. In fact, we do it all the time and I as a result we need lots of wiggle room. In addition, with two children running wild, wiggle room is a must! For today’s post, I am going to define the term wiggle room to be when one is able to  move around freely in a space without stubbing ones toes on a piece of furniture.

Choosing the right size sofa for a living space is paramount for the existence of wiggle room. I’ve visited homes where there was so much furniture in the living space that I could only walk sideways in order to avoid bumping into an item. It’s usually a relief to return to my home where I can walk freely in my abundance of wiggle room.

No stubbing ones toes in this space. It’s no surprise that it is a space belonging to the Novogratz family; lots of wiggle room for playing and or dancing.

furn2
a lone sofa with a pouf for perching ones feet though simple in design provides ample opportunity for kiddos to enjoy the space in a carefree manner and adults can easily do the Moon Walk if they so desire. How do you feel about the amount of furniture in a space? Is wiggle room important to you? Blessings and have a wonderful Tuesday. XX

Baby Ian’s DIY Bookcase: Pantone Emerald Green Style…

DSC_0012
Purchased for $20 at the thrift store, this book case was a sweet deal… Last weekend (with the perfect weather and all), I  was busy working my diy magic on this beauty. I lightly sanded, primed and painted it in this Sherwin Williams Julep colour.  I think the colour echoes Pantone Emerald (colour of the year)… I also love how it pops against the colour of the wall in Baby Ian’s nursery.

It even looks beautiful in the before picture and it was in great shape. When I first saw it, I immediately fell in love with the dental details at the top too.

I still have plenty of space to fill in this bookcase and that’s not too difficult to do with a baby. They have plenty of “stuff!” What are your plans for the weekend? Any projects planned? Have a lovely one my friends and stay warm! XX

Do you have a sideboard in your home?  If so, where in your home is yours? I know not everyone has their sideboard in a dining room space.  I’m currently using our formal dining room as Zion’s playroom and my sideboard(which I’ve been itching to change) is in my foyer. Happy Wednesday my friends! XX
