Spending Labor Day In The Garden

Coffee anyone:-)? It is no secret that I love nature and I'm truly so inspired by it. It is also where I go to 

quiet my mind.  Whether I am pulling weeds, picking veggies, or having some coffee, there is always a sense of calm that overcomes me- it's so therapeutic.  Since putting so much work into the space, we've all been enjoying it! This is where you could find me most of the time during this Labor Day weekend. 

 I bought this yellow foldable outdoor table set a bit over a year ago and it has been left outside, but held up so beautifully!  I might buy another in a different color-maybe this mint green one...

Over the weekend, I pulled lots of weeds and fertilized the remaining vegetables. 

This year I planted chile peppers for the first time and now I have so many! I usually plant what we call scotch bonnet peppers known as habaneros, so I might've gone overboard with the selection of hot peppers! You know us Jamaicans love their spicy food:-)

I am looking forward to the cool down so I don't have to water the garden as much. I had placed mulch down in the beds before we left for vacation and that has definitely helped, but nevertheless, the cool down will be well received.  

I hope you're soaking up the last bits of this long weekend. Guess what I'll be doing today?-yep you guessed it; more gardening and plant maintenance. Happy Monday friends. xx

Morocco Dreaming.

I am feeling a bit of wanderlust today and Morocco has always been up there on the list of places I'd love to visit. Morocco oozes bohemian flair and I know i'd be right at home amongst all the saturated colors! The greenery, the people, the architecture and details,  I could go on and on. One Last Summer Soirée.

Almost everyone seems to be engaging in Fall conversations while I am here thinking, "I am going to squeeze the life out of what's left of Summer." After all, it IS still Summer and it sure still feels like it.  I've said it a number of times that we basically live outside during the Summer, so today I am sharing what i refer to as One Last Summer Soirée...

It brings me such joy to be able to eat what we grow and boy have we been eating lots of basil. We have so much of it!

I made basil pesto and it was soooo good!

Weekend Vibes.

School is officially on Summer break and we will no doubt be spending lots of time on the patio; the boys playing in their sandbox while I sip on an adult beverage and jam to music.  Summer time is my absolute fave!

A Colorful Romantic Dinner at Home For Fathers Day.

I enjoy dining at home and usually opt for a quiet evening at home to celebrate special occasions.  As usual, I like using items I already have and creating this colorful romantic dinner was not difficult at all!

I decided to use this table that is on the porch because it's round and is the perfect size for an intimate dinner for two. I removed all the succulents and placed it in the shadiest part of our yard.

For the tablecloth, I chose to use two. I used a tie dye fabric to add the color pop and layered it with the lace for a romantic effect. Both were scored at a thrift store and the round table was the perfect size! Vintage candlesticks with colorful tapered candles, a copper bowl, and pink flamingo napkins and color and bling to the table top. 

A colorful striped blanket with lanterns hung with colorful citronella tea lights add comfort and color. 

One can never have enough outdoor lanterns. Similar ones available here.

Lit bare bulbs in trees add the perfect romantic ambience.

At dusk, light the candles for the perfect ambience

This is actually a thrifted chandelier that I hung from a branch. I removed the three tiny bulbs and cut tapered candles to fit the light slots. I love it! xx

Rattan Trend for Summer 2016.

Usually when we think of rattan, we think of outdoor furniture but that is not the case anymore! The use of rattan furniture in interior design is not new and has been around for ages. It is quite a hot commodity right now and is definitely trending for this Summer and it seems to be everywhere!
