Baby Cheyenne and a Nursery Sneak Peek

Baby Cheyenne and a Nursery Sneak Peek- designaddictmom
Baby Cheyenne made her debut like a boss approximately 2 weeks ago at 38 weeks. She couldn't careless when her due date was, she was ready to get out of the oven now!  You can read more about her birth here.  Needless to say, she has already captured her hearts and yes, i haven't slept in awhile so i hope this post is not riddled with grammatical errors.  O.K., on to the nursery. As i mentioned in the post below, the nursery used to be big brother Ian's room, but he is now sharing room with his brother, Zion. Although not quite yet completed, I was able to make a couple cosmetic changes to the space before baby Cheyenne arrived.

I splurged on the Arty wallpaper from Pierre Frey to create a fun and whimsical feel in the dormer which got a makeover. I also love that it pairs nicely with the existing drapery.

I chose this crib because of its simple lines.

So precious!

I repainted the wall color Benjamin Moore Cloud White because i wanted
a bit of Scandinavian vibe in here and i love how the wooden and woven pieces look against it. Of course there are still bold colors all around in the space. The dresser and changing table combo is from Land of Nod and i've had it since Zion was a baby.  The knobs are a diy I completed a couple years ago and i plan on updating them. The diaper bin  pictured works beautifully with regards to trapping scent but i wish it were just a bit bigger. The lamp and rocking chair are vintage finds.

One of my favorite pieces in the nursery is this bassinet. It's handmade from a wonderful company called Design Dua and I love the African inspired nature of the design I chose. The rocking stand makes it convenient to move around and add the perfect height to reach over and soothe baby back to sleep.

The chunk of the room is eaten up by this bed that was already in here when the room belonged to Ian. I decided to leave it in the space so I would have a place to sleep that was close to baby Cheyenne. Also the wall behind the bed used to be a tangerine accent color.

The rocker that keeps on giving. I have already spent countless nights and days and mornings breast feeding and rocking baby Cheyenne in this rocker that i thrifted years ago when this space was then Ian's nursery.

I also couldn't believe my luck to find this vintage hand made rocker with Cheyenne's middle name carved in it plus the heart shapes.

Our darling girl. We love her so so much!

And there you have it. I'll share more of the nursery once the other updates are made.  Have a wonderful weekend!

A Shared Space to Make Room for Baby

A Shared Space to Make Room for Baby- design addict mom
Baby girl is supposed to make her debut in about two weeks, so I am trying to show you the projects completed to make room for her. Since we decided to use Ian's room as the nursery, I transformed Zion's room into a shared space for him and Ian. The changes made were minor, but still big on impact and of course the map mural still shines in the design.

Although the bed pictured also transforms into a bunk bed(see below), and the boys have slept on it countless times as a bunk bed, I was a bit concerned about the quality of sleep Ian would be receiving since he would be at the bottom bunk and in this room, the vents are in the floor, not the ceiling.

After giving it some thought, we decided to go with two matching twin beds.

I also repainted the walls from the green pictured above to Benjamin Moore Brittany Blue. It's a soothing palette and goes great with the accent wall below.

You might remember when I painted this wall with paint from the Aphrochic line.

It was an easy transition as the boys would spend time in each others rooms anyway. I think going to the separate beds(in our case) was a great idea. They both have been sleeping great and seem to really enjoy sharing a room. xx

A Sweet Girl's Happy Place Enveloped in Pretty Pastel Colors

A Sweet Girl's Happy Place Enveloped in Pretty Pastel Colors- design addict mom
Pastel colors reign in this lovely girls bedroom. Recently my friend's daughter,  Evie, opted to make over her bedroom for her birthday. She chose this lovely pastel color for her wall which really makes the white furniture pop. A few days ago, while she was in school, I added and styled her bed with this whimsical quilt and pillows from the Happy Places Shopkin Bedroom Collection that I was gifted from the kind folks at Moose Toys.

The colors in the pillow and quilt go so perfectly with the wall color, you'd think they were the inspiration for the room design. The Happy Places Shopkin Bedroom Collection is available exclusively at Target.

So pretty, right? Evie was so thrilled about her surprise pieces from the Happy Shopkin Bedroom collection when she came home from school. Btw, I'd also like to add that Evie's Mom, Lea(who is also the talented photographer i work with all the time), made that beautiful piece of art above the bed. She taped off a canvas to form that design and used left over paint from various projects to paint the different areas-such a genius idea!

* Although I was gifted these pieces, the opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.

Amazing Wallpaper Ideas for Kids' Rooms

Amazing Wallpaper Ideas for Kids' Rooms- design addict mom
It's been a bevy of design activity regarding the nursery for our baby girl and while the process is ongoing, one thing was certain, there would be wallpaper.  Although I've already chosen the wallpaper to be used, these wallpaper designs have me swooning! There are a few designs in today's post that had caught my eyes when I was wallpaper hunting for the nursery.

One of them is the 'Les Bidules'  shown above from  Pierre Frey (spotted on Handmade Charlotte)

This beautiful floral beauty from Molly Guy's home tour on Domino also caught my eye. It's Jardin creme by Nathalie Lété .

Mapping It Behind the Bed.

Fun and colorful room with map wall

The map wall in Zion's room is still a huge hit. For the many people who have asked where it's from, it is the York Wallcoverings MP4945M World Map, Mural.  Map wallpapers are still very much on trend and I've noticed that placing them behind the bed seems to be a fave.
