Wishing but Have to Move Instead...

I have been wishing that this is the type of space that I would wake up to at this time of year or something very close to it.

CT trip and more 205
CT trip and more 210
However, unfortunately, this is my reality; boxes everywhere and chaos! We received an offer on our house just before our Connecticut trip. Since we returned home from the trip, we’ve been rounding up boxes from wherever we can find them for free(boxes are actually expensive!). We’ve been packing like crazy since we have a tentative closing date of January 6th. If I have been MIA on your blog, this is why! Also, did I mention that I’m also busy choosing items for the other house as well(the one being built) too.  I will show you the progress of that one soon. Now, we have to find an apartment to live for two to three months until the other house gets completed.

Instead of decorating my home for Christmas, I am stripping it of its contents. I fear there will be no Christmas tree for me this year-maybe a small table top one. Thankfully, we have tons of Christmas music on the iPod and the hubby’s computer to at least fill the air with some Christmas cheer!

How is your Christmas decorating coming along? I’m sure it’s not as dismal looking as mineSmile. Happy Tuesday everyone! XX

  1. Feeling for you, the thought of packing this close to Christmas is very daunting but I have to say the idea of your new home will keep your spirits positive.
In the same breath, really happy that you got an offer on your home which must be fantastic. Luckily next year will be a more memorable Christmas for Z, so don't sorry about that side of things. My boy gets Christmas this year but didn't last and he is turning 3.
I am having a give away if you want to visit. Sending you good packing vibes. xK

  2. Don't look as your Christmas as being dismal Stacey look at your move as exciting. How many people can say they sold a house in this economy? Not only that but you're building another house? You're very lucky and Christmas should be in your heart not a tree. I'm so happy for everything coming your way and next year will be better.

  3. GOOD MORNING BEAUTIFUL! Oh, I know the feeling, Stacy! We are adding two rooms to our house and the place is a mess. BUT I AM SO EXCITED BECAUSE THE FRAMING IS HAPPENING NOW, so my only decoration is a small white tree, but I am lovin' it all anyway. MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE...ours did, but it took about 10 years!!!

  4. My grandmother use to say Bittersweet. No one likes the act of moving, but how exciting? Don't see it as dismal. You're moving to something better for you and your family. Out with the old and in with the new?

  11. Oh, my dear, what a time to have to move!! But it's all for a good reason -- just imagine your Christmas decor next year in the new house as you hum along to "Santa's coming to town" ;)

  14. Just keep focusing on the new house and how amazing it's going to be!!! Congrats on the sale of the house, though! That's got to be a stress relief! Fingers crossed the new house is finished sooner (mine was by 35 days)!

Hope you have a wonderful week! xoxo

  15. My thoughts are with you! I once had to move when I was 8 months pregnant with my 4th (I recently wrote about this in someone's comments - don't think it was here!) Everything went wrong that week - one boy got strep, the other ran into something and had to get stitches, I had to have an emergency root canal which then got infected!! But we had Christmas nonetheless and no one remembers it as the disaster it really was! Hopefully your move will proceed more smoothly!

  17. Oh Stacey, I totally feel you with the moving! (Having done ours barely 10,11 weeks ago across an ocean:)). I was also never a huge fan of packing/unpacking, but it's super-exciting how you'll soon be in a place you can build to fit your heart's desire! I'm sending lots of good thoughts and vibes as you search for an apt. It will be like a little adventure :) And I'm already looking forward to you gorgeous home for next Christmas! (Is that going too far? :))

  18. Your Christmas reminds me of mine one year when I moved from NYC to where I am now Charleston (12 hour drive). So when we arrived to our new place, there was no tree, no presents, and it was very hard to find dinner that night. There is a bright light at the end of your tunnel and I am very excited for you :)

  23. Dear Stacey, you sure came up with lovely images though! Good luck with all your packing!

And if you have time, maybe you could tell me how you get those large photos uploaded on your blog. I keep filling in 'large image' in my blogger, but nothing happens?

    Big hug, Kristin

  24. What a chore, don't envy you the packing but moving in is always kind of exciting. A fresh canvas just waiting for your very keen eye. My decorations and plodding along, have a week until my daughter is home for Christmas so I'll be done by then. I have a tree in my kitchen almost exactly like that first one - white tree with pink and green, fun.

  35. Sweetheart, I had no idea! I feel for you but know you will make this move rock. I am so happy that you have your husband home so that you can hold hands through this.
Once the move is over and you settle in your temporary pad, you'll have to have a great 'New Years Party' - just the three of you. Toast to new beginnings and a fabulous 2011 in your new house!

    Exciting things ahead!!
