A Friend Like You: Patrice

pat1
Sometimes even I need a reminder of this sometimes. Thank you to my friend Patrice for this reminder…

pat3
I feel so lucky to have a friend like Patrice; you know the one that you can call on the phone and before you even say that something is wrong, somehow she uncannily figures it out. While I was pregnant with Baby Ian, I had to go to the hospital twice due to severe contractions. As you know the hubby wasn’t here, but not to fear, Patrice came to my aid. in. the. middle. of. the. night. She stayed with me the entire time and we repeated the process a night later. Yes, indeed; I feel very lucky to have a friend like Patrice.

pat2
So, guess what Patrice? To show how much I love and appreciate you my darling friend, I want us to get all dolled up to go on a date! My treat of course!
pat4
Yes, we’re going to the drive-in! I know, only your friend Stacey would take you to the drive –inSmile. And guess what you’re not going to see a movie. It’s a surprise…

pat
I’m on my way! Yes I have something special for you in my suitcase(in case you were wondering)…

Later, at the drive – in…

Yes, instead of seeing a movie, we viewed this home in 3D! I know my friend and what she loves. Did you all enjoy it?

pat5
Patrice, our friendship has been to many “places” and that is it why it’s so reliable, honest, fun, pure, and unpretentious. Thank you for being my friend. Love you lots!! Have a grand weekend everyone and if you have great friends or a great friend, let them/him or her know it! Muah!Smile. XX

Guest Post: Creative Headboards via Sierra

 Hi everyone,
Today we have a wonderful guest post from Sierra of Ocean Dreams blog. The post speaks for itself so no lengthy description needed. Take it away Sierra...

Bed headboards not only bring a bedroom to life, but they create character. An artful headboard looks amazing in a bedroom that needs a bold focal point and is available in several types of materials such as wood, leather, metal, fabric, and more. Instead of going for a traditional headboard, however, why not create an original headboard that's different? Create a trendy room that's romantic, rustic, modern, minimalist, or bohemian. The choice is yours and your imagination to create the space of your dreams is endless. So have fun and create an interior that has a headboard that you can't take your eyes off of, such as the pictures below!

Uneven planks of wood can be pieced together to create a rustic board that looks great in a vintage or shabby chic styled room. Look at the uneven pieces of wood and how beautiful this board looks behind the white crisp comforter and sheets on the bed. It creates a very calming and inviting space.

If you have old window shutters or doors that are no longer usable, use them as headboards! They'll produce an urban room that's trendy and full of style. You could even place a mirror or single decor piece in the middle of each door like the decorator in the picture below did. A symmetrical layout catches the eye and looks great in this European inspired design, below.

Now you could really get creative and have a chalk headboard, which technically isn't a headboard but it sure looks like one! You can draw a romantic headboard on a chalk board that looks elegant and fun in a room that was in need of a little bit more pizzazz.

Using a bunch of your favorite elements to create a eclectic headboard is fun and bold! Incorporate letters that spell out your last name or find characters such as hearts, squares, or whatever shapes you love. Soon you'll have a one of a kind headboard that everyone will ask how you created it.

A headboard that's upholstered or that has a wallpaper pattern on it looks bright and cheerful in a calming room. If you're tired of a current headboard you should definitely consider getting it upholstered. Or, if you have a headboard that's workable with wallpaper, decorate it on your own and create a piece of art that you're satisfied with.

Now it's time for you to have fun with your bed headboard. If you don't have one, you can consider getting this fun element to match the current style of your room. Or - you can redecorate the one you have by being creative and using your imagination. As you can see there are several different styles that can definitely revamp a room. Whether you use chalk, letter elements, wallpaper, or wooden planks, a headboard can be an artful experiment that turns into an interior masterpiece.

Sierra is a blogger at her blog Ocean Dreams. She loves fashion and interior design! In the future she’d love to create a bedroom with a daring headboard and would also like to include water features to create a serene environment. Feeling inspired? I sure am. Thank you so much Sierra for a fun and enlightening post! Happy Thursday everyone! XX

The Space Below.

db7
Often times, when we decorate or accessorize, we tend to forget that space below. For e.g., in that picture above the blue stools below the console table balance the look. If they were absent, the look would appear “unfinished” or one would think that something is missing, but not quite sure what it is.

db6
When we look at a space our eyes naturally go up and then down. It’s wonderful when there’s something in that space below for them to settle on…

Naomi of Design Manifest definitely know a thing or two about how important it is to dress the space below. I never tire of seeing this space.

Do you pay attention to that space below? How do you “dress” it up? Hopefully, today’s post gave you a few ideas…Have a lovely day everyone! XX
